Reminder! “Irish in the Great Lakes” talk today

It’s not too late to register for my talk with the Wheaton Public Library & DuPage County Genealogical Society on Zoom today, “Irish in the Great Lakes.” This is a topic I really love talking about! You can register here up until the talk begins at 1pm.

Part of my Irish in the Great Lakes heritage is in the photo above — my great grandfather Thomas O’Rourke was born in Essex County, Ontario but moved to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan as a young adult, where he met and married my great grandmother Mary Dubuque. Mary was both French Canadian and Irish (including some Anglo-Irish) and had been born in Houghton County, Michigan where they met. In this photo, they’re standing in front of Lake Superior.
